Brief Answer:
Need to be evaluated/Clinical examination required

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the query
I have read your question and understand your concerns.

There are several causes that may lead to taste distortion,, these include zinc and vitamin B12 deficiency, dry mouth syndrome, glossopharyngeal nerve damage, mouth infection and inflammation etc.

Prolonged smoking also may affect taste buds function too.

If you are on any medication, drugs can also make your food tasteless by destroying taste buds

It is necessary to be evaluated by your primary care Doctor and to have further medical examination and in order to understand better your condition.
1. Examination of tongue to check any infection and inflammation.
2. Tests such zinc and vitamin B12 blood levels,
3. Gustatory event potential.
4. Blood sugar test.
5. Thyroid function test.
6. Brain imaging if needed.

If you have any doubt you are welcome

Take care
Regards
