Brief Answer:
Likely to be stress-related.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.

Buprex SR is an anti-depressant medication called Bupropion. Often, stress is one of the most common causes for disturbed sleep and bad dreams. So, this is why the psychiatrist whom she had consulted has prescribed an antidepressant medication. So, I would suggest that she try the medication for a few weeks to see if her symptoms gradually resolve. You need to wait for at least 2 to 3 weeks to see any significant improvement because, the medication will take some time to fully take effect.

Please clarify whether she is getting this sleep disturbance even when she is taking the medicine regularly. Or is it only when she stops taking the medication. Also, how long she has been taking this medication?

Brief Answer:
Suggested to continue medication regularly

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for the clarifications.

Based on your information it appears that she may be having a chronic depression problem which is being controlled by the medication. That is why whenever she stops the medication, she is having a relapse of her symptoms. In this case, it is advisable to continue the medication regularly. Unfortunately, problems like chronic depression cannot be eradicated completely and so, in some patients long term treatment with anti-depressants is the only choice. But don't worry, this medicine Buprex SR is a safe medication and does not have any side effects even if taken for long periods of time.

Brief Answer:
This is a specific type of depression.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This is likely to be a specific type of depression called Seasonal Affective Disorder. Here the depression occurs only during a specific season of the year. The treatment of this problem is just the same as any other type of depression i.e. with antidepressant medication. So, she is currently in the correct line of treatment with the antidepressant Buprex SR and therefore she can continue the same.
