What Causes Dizziness And Discomfort In Chest?
Question: I saw my cardiologist last week and he is concerned that I might be a candidate for a stroke. I am going in on thurs for a 48 heart monitor. I exercise everyday and feel great but am dizzy or lightheaded alot and have strange sensation in my mid chest region. I had ablation of vent for tacacardia 6 yrs ago. I also think I have a sinus infection and am plugged up. I'm seeing my ent man next monday. I had menierres disease active from 1997 to 2000 but it disappeared. I was left w awful hearing in left ear and wear hearing aids. I play golf 4-5 xs/wk. What is wrong in your opinion and what should I do?
Brief Answer:
Further cardiac tests results are needed first...
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
I am sorry for the situation you are in.
Your symptoms are indicative for Menier's Syndrome. However, what worries me is your chest pain (strange sensation in your mid chest region). Therefore, I highly recommend further cardiac tests :
- ECG
- stress test
- cardiac echo
along with holter monitoring you will be going to have on thursday.
Depending on the tests results, it will be calculated the risk for stroke, especially if arrhythmia will be present. Otherwise, if no arrhythmia, there are less chances for stroke.
Hope it helped! Do not hesitate to write me back if you have further queries!

I do not have pain in my chest, merely an odd sensation. If there is an atrial fib combined with light headedness, which is what I suspect, what might my doc suggest I do?
Brief Answer:
Start proper treatment as following...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
Thank you for following up.
If atrial fibrillation will be confirmed, then, I'd suggest to start:
- medications for arrhythmia
- anticoagulants to prevent stroke
This is a typical treatment scheme that should be followed. However, everything will depend on the results of tests you will do.
All the best! Looking forward to have your tests results in!
