What Causes Dizziness And Headache Post Withdrawal From Escitalopram?

Question: Hi sir, I have been taking psychiatric drugs for the past 5 years under depression issues. A week ago my doctor saw improvements in me and decided to discontinue my medicines. Previously I have taken tab Esclo plus in the night(only one tab a day).I am having dizziness and headaches in this week. Is it a withdrawal symptom of medications? If so, how long will it persist?
Brief Answer:
Most probably these are withdrawal symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.
I read you query and understand your concerns.
From the available description there is more possibility of withdrawal symptom as dizziness and headaches are known side effect of escitalopram withdrawal.
Generally it is better to go by 20-25 % every week rather than attempting sudden withdrawal.
The symptoms of withdrawal to you will go within two to four weeks at a maximum duration but may clear in less than two weeks.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks and regards.

Will it get automatically cured after 2 weeks? or Should I visit my doctor again?
Brief Answer:
It is better to visit if you have symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.
I do not think you need to visit doctor but it is better to do so all negative possibilities are taken care of provided there are few persisting symptoms.
Most of the patient do not need any intervention but a small fraction of patients may not get desired effect over time and may suffer with withdrawal symptoms beyond two weeks.
I hope this helps you further.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.
