What Causes Dizziness And Severe Pain In The Biceps?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Dec 2016
Question: I am experiencing dizzyness when I lay down along with excruciating pain in my right arm / bicep area. The arm pain is intermittent and associated with arm position. I am unable to lift my arm fully over my head and lateral movement often leads to massive spikes of pain that debilitate me for 1 - 2 minutes. I previously had a similar issue with my left arm about 2 years ago, which failed to respond to medication (muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatorys) and was ultimately only resolved through vigorous (and painful) massage therapy over a period of 6 weeks. My wife suffered from the same issue (severe right arm pain with dizzyness) last year and had a similar experience (drugs didn't help, massage therapy did). I would normally just use massage therapy to address the current problem, but another person in my office is suffering from the same issues (arm / shoulder pain, dizzyness, loss of mobility in arm, etc.) and her husband also had the same problem a year ago. The fact that three people I know all suffer from such similar symptoms has me concerned. Is there a possibility that this is environmental or associated with some viral or bacterial malady? Any help would be appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Could be cervical spondylosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

It is possible that this could be a disorder of the brain or cervical spine in the neck.

This can lead to headaches, radiating pain from the back of the neck to the arm, associated with tingling or numbness.

Avoid overhead 2 and lifting weights. Apply hot packs to the affected region. Take Tablet Diclofenac with Thicolchicoside combination twice a day after meals and Tablet Rabeprazole twice a day before meals for 5 days.

I would suggest you get an MRI brain and MRI cervical spine done. Environmental/ infection's possibility is quite unlikely though.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
