What Causes Dizziness And Spinning Sensation Post Injury?

Question: Hi,
I stood up into the corner of a wooden railing this morning. I didn't fall down our list consciousness but I had a little bleeding, soreness and fatigue right after. I didn't go to sleep but sat down with ice in my head. I got hit right in the middle of the top of it.
Now it's several hours past my usual bedtime and I can't sleep. I feel dizzy when I lie down and close my eyes-like the room is spinning. Should I ask medical care? I have really no other symptoms besides a slight headache and the wound is a bit sore.

Brief Answer:
Needs physical examination like blood pressure

Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. To understand better please tell me were you alone or someone was there when this happened? As there needs to be an injury may be a hit/fall to have bleeding.
As for now going by your description it looks to be a vasovagal syncope and requires a physical examination to look for blood pressure and may be blood test like blood sugar level, thyroid if not done recently.
It is my sincere advice to visit a nearby local doctor/ER for further help.
Hope this helps.
Take care

Hi doctor,
I was alone. I went outside to get the mail. I picked up a package from the ground and as I was standing up hit my head on the corner of the wooden railing at the bottom of my porch steps. I didn't realize I was so close to it when I was standing up. I grabbed my head and felt blood and bled very lightly from my head for about 1 hour.
Thanks

Hi
It's good to see you.
I have gone through reply and it looks to be a small cut at head and ask someone to have a look.If it is less than 2cm,it may heal of it's own with local antibiotic cream like soframycin. If it is big then you should visit the ER.
For pain you may take Ibuprofen and rest along with plenty of fluid. The dizziness is due to minor head injury. Hopefully you will get over it in few days time.
Wishing you good health
Take care
