What Causes Dizziness And Weakines After Taking Flomax?
Question: my dad takes flomax as well as tiazac, he has extreme weakness, low blood pressure, back pain and chest heaviness. I believe this is all due to the flomax because he stopped for 5 days and on the last day he felt the best he had in weeks but had to restart flomax due to inability to urinate. 2 days later he felt the weakness/dizziness again. If prescribed another alpha blocker, would he have the safe side effects or should I ask for another medication?
Brief Answer:
He can take Silodosin
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your father has Benign Enlargement of prostate and have been taking alpha blockers (Flomax) and have serious side effects like dizziness ,weakness etc,
These are known side effects of alpha blockers .
You can give him Silodosin. This is a new drug which also belongs to alpha blocker group but has selective action on smooth muscles in bladder neck and prostate and has minimum side effects .
You can have a trial of Silodosin for couple of weeks .
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
