It is due to peripheral vertigo.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for getting back.
I have noted your dad's new symptoms. First of all, I would like to reassure you that there is no need to worry, as these do not suggest any serious illness.
The symptoms are suggestive of peripheral vertigo, due to a condition called as BPPV- benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. In this condition, there are minor problems in the inner ear, and dizziness occurs with changes in head or neck position.
The symptoms would improve with medications such as betahistine (vertin) tablets, and vestibular adaptation exercises would also help.
I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.
Wishing you good health,
