Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to alteration in the blood flow to areas of the brain

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
This unpleasant but short lasting dizziness which is often related to the movements of the head and neck is likely due to a benign positional vertigo. It may also be due to alteration in the blood supply to certain parts of the brain with movements of the neck as the vertebral arteries that supply the base of the brain goes through the neck bones and any wear and tear in these bones may affect the blood flow transiently when these bones move.
This is more common in people who also have diabetes , cholesterol abnormalities or high blood pressure which affect the blood vessels.
