What Causes Dizziness When I Change Position Of Head?
metformin and hydrochlorothyazide. I felt very nervous and my blood pressure became very high--169/93 pulse 105. After a rest of about 1 hour, my blood pressure went down to 162/93 pulse 94.
I seem to get dizzy when I change the position of my head. I know I had a nervous reaction to the sudden dizziness. Overall I feel better, however, I think I am going to get dizzy again if I change positions again. Are ther any actions I should take?
Likely to be vertebrobasilar insufficiency
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
The origin of dizziness is the inner ear apparatus. It can be affected in two ways - one is an inflammation called labrynthitis which often is due to a viral infection and the other and more likely in you is a vascular insufficiency.
It is more likely to be a vertebrobasilar insufficiency and one cause for the same is microemboli as you have atrial fibrillation.
You can take betahistine ( Betaserc) for symptomatic relief . Also try to avoid abrupt change in posture or sudden turning of the head. Closing your eyes and relaxing when you have an attack of dizziness also helps.
If it does not subside, it is better to see your doctor and have a reassessment. You may also require to consult an ENT specialist if your primary doctor advises
Wish you a quick recovery.
