What Causes Dizziness While On Zoloft And Buspar?
Question: hello ive been feeling dizzy when I walk for over a week now I have acid reflux and a headache. I went to th er the other day and vitals look great and an ekg which looked good. I also feel like im falling over even when im at rest. im being treated for panic disorder with Zoloft 100mg once a day and buspar 5 mg two times a day for about two weeks the meds seemed to be working although I was feeling slightly dizzy. so I cut the buspar in half on my own and switched the time of day I take the meds, now I cant walk without having to hold on to something. I did put myself back on the buspar 5mg twice a day forabout two days now. my question is, is this anxiety or something worse? I did have a brain ct and mri about two months ago that came back normal. I wake up unrefreshed with bad headaches and frequently wake up for 30 seconds in the middle of the night. the only other medical condition I have is kyphosis m85 degress and lordosis. the dizzy feeling does not feel like the rom is spinning, my body just feels light and as if when I stand I will fall over same when I walk
Brief Answer:
Dizziness in your case is related to drug side effects
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.
I can certainly understand your concern.
The dizziness in your case is directly related to the drug side effects Zoloft and Buspar.
These drugs are known to cause serious dizziness as a side effect.
Reduction of the drug dosages of Zoloft to 50 mg and Buspar to 2.5 mg under expert medical guidance will help to reduce the symptoms.

well the issue im having is that I had seveare dizziness like this before I started the drugs and wound up going to an inpatient psychward. after starting the meds for a coulpe days I felt less dizzy but still a little wired so I took it on my self to cut back on how much buspirone I take I cut myself from 10 to 5 and that made my symptoms worse, so I wounder if this is just my anxiety and panic disorder coming back because I messed with the balance of the drugs in my brain? plus I was only on them for less than two weeks. but I would shake when I walk or talk before I started these meds. the symptoms inproved with the first ten days of treatment than when I cut buspirone back symptoms came back strong. I feel like im faling over in bed or when I walk. could this be nuerological? I have a vitamin d level of 15.6 so I don't know if this is serious or not. I have brain mri in febuary and brain ct in april, I felt dizzy back than and brain looked normal. my head feels light body feels weightless and im dizzy at rest and off balance.
Brief Answer:
Possible BPPV.?Oral Betahistine may help
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.
I can certainly understand your concern.
The possibility of associated panic disorder and anxiety can lead to this form of Dizzines as well.
But considering your history with a normal CT and MRI scan , the possibility of a neurological cause is very less.
The prime consideration at this point should be a BPPV disorder( benign paroxysmal positional disorder) .
This can be treated with drugs like Betahistine .Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if prescribe these drugs to you.
Tapering the dosage of your current drugs like Zoloft and Buspar to least required doses will also largely help to reduce the spells of dizziness.
