What Causes Dizziness While Standing Or Laying Down?

default
Posted on Sat, 14 Feb 2015
Question: When I sit up in bed or lay down in bed or make any change from upright to prone or prone to upright position I feel dizzy for 10-20 seconds and need to sit quietly until stable. It happens every night and every morning, starting XXXXXXX 7 2015.
I sometimes experience a similar but lesser dizziness if I suddenly tilt my head way back to look upward.

Brief Answer:
Most likely Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking Health care magic forum.

I have gone through your query. Your problem is most likely due to Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. The causes can be from brain or vestibular apparatus. Drugs like meclizine or cinnarizine for short term will be helpful to control this. I recommend you visit an ENT specialist; he/she will know about this condition and the drugs.

Do you had any history of head trauma? In case of head trauma also this occurs. In such case a CT or MRI might be required to rule out any problems.

If condition persist longer then physical therapy and nootropic drugs like piracetam will be helpful.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
