What Causes Dizziness While Standing Up?
I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that your symptoms seem to be related to orthostatic hypotension.
This is a disorder affecting the autonomic nervous system, which leads to a decrease in your blood pressure during standing up from sitting or laying down position.
What are your actual blood pressure values?
I recommend measuring your blood pressure during sitting and standing up position. A decrease more than 20mm Hg in your systolic blood pressure when standing up compared to sitting position, would be very indicative of orthostatic hypotension.
It is important performing a head up tilt test to rule in/out this possible disorder.
From the other hand chronic low blood pressure, chronic anemia, thyroid dysfunction, diabetes, dehydration and some certain drugs can aggravate this clinical situation.
I would recommend also performing some blood lab tests (complete blood count, fasting glucose, blood electrolytes, thyroid hormone levels, kidney and liver function tests) to exclude possible secondary causes of this symptomatology.
Meanwhile, I recommend taking plenty of fluids (water and juices) to avoid dehydration and avoid straining physical activity and prolonged standing up position.
Hope to have been helpful!
If you have any other questions, I would be happy to answer!
Greetings!
