What Causes Dizzy Spells And Bump Above Right Eye After A Fall?

Posted on Sat, 28 Jun 2014
Question: After a fall 7 months ago on my right side of my head I had a huge bump just above the right eye.

Now I am having a dizzy spell if I move my head rapidly, and if I move my head down and to the side.
Could there be a connection? Or what might it be. Should I try an antihistamine or ?

Brief Answer:
Mild cerebral concussion/commotion...

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for posting.

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

Your symptoms are caused by a mild cerebral commotion. Cerebral commotion is caused by the fall that you had 7 months ago.
Bump above the eye is a hematoma that is due to injury, and after a while it will be absorbed.
During the fall, except head you have injured your neck, too.

Dizziness that you are experiencing is not related to the bump, but is related to neck injury and cerebral commotion.

To check your neck and head condition you need the following test:
1. Head and neck CT-scan.
2. Complete blood count.
3. Urine test.

The treatment of this disease depends on the diagnosis.

You should contact your neurologist to discuss about the treatment.

Ask me for anything unclear.

All the best.
Dr. Behar.
