What Causes Dried Up Blood In Nose?
a topical steroid may help
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Blood can be due to any inflammation of the nasal passages. It can also occur due to trauma to the nose.
Inflammation can be due to infection (common cold or flu) or allergies (such as allergic rhinitis or sinusitis).
With allergies, you may have symptoms such nasal congestion, sneezing, post nasal drip, runny nose.
Because the nose is inflamed, bleeding can occur. Once the allergy or infection is treated then the bleeding would stop.
Trauma to the nose (for example if nose is struck or if anything inserted into it) can also cause bleeding.
Treatment if allergy or infection: (1) topical steroid nasal sprays- these would decrease the inflammation in the nose. Examples are nasonex, nasocort, flonase, rhinocort.
(2) oral antihistamines such as benadryl, claritine, allergra or zyrtec. One of these would help
(3)if due to trauma it should resolve on its own once no more trauma occurs.
