What Causes Drooping Eyelids With Dry Eyes?
Question: Iam experiencing on my right side dry eye and also droopy eyelid and droop eyebrow. Droopy eyebrow is very extreme. Sometimes eyelid closes completely. Headache from time to time on right side of head. I suffer at night from sinus problems and it generally affects my right nostril but it can affect both. Can alternate and is generally one or the other not both at one time. I have been to a Opthamologist wh o says he has never seen anything like this. Bloods ESR and CRP are normal range,
I have been experiencing this since 17t March 2017. It came on suddenly one morning. Eyelid closed and eyebrow drooped. Now this week I feel the dryness ( grittiness and soreness and slightly eyelid droopiness is beginning to occur in my left eyelid as well). I went to another Opthamologist who put ice on my eye and the eyelid and eyebrow lifted somewhat. I have Crohns disease .

Brief Answer:
Crohn's may be the culprit, please provide imaging studies results.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Drooping eyelid may be a sign of several conditions ranging from nerve damage (compression), age, inflammation, contact lenses use, trauma, etc.
Crohn's disease also may be related to drooping eyelid, since it is an autoimmune disease.
It is necessary to provide the imaging studies results in order to understand better your condition, since you refer about sinus issues, that in some cases may be linked to dropping eyelid.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Awaiting for the imaging studies reports......,

Attached is the MRI XXXXXXX report for your consideration.
I have also just undertaken a blood test for Myasthenia Gravis ?
My Eye Specialist conducted an ice test on my eyes and it improved my droopy lid and brow - but just for a short time.
I am concerned about what it means in the MRI report the comment about
" Asymmetric mucoperiosteal changes are seen within the sphenoid sinus on the right side"
Brief Answer:
Sinusitis, but not a problem.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Myasthenia gravis is suspected since the ice pack test resulted positive, however, other symptoms such double vision, altered speech, problems with swallowing, etc. are present.
The blood test you mentioned will give more information about your condition.
Don't worry about the mucoperiosteal changes, it is probably an incidental finding not related to your condition.
hope I helped you.
Take care.

Hi
could my dry eye issue be related to Chrons ?
I understand you dont get swallowing and limb weakness with Myasthenia if it is just Occular?
And can you advise if the antibodies blood test for myasthenia could be negative if it is only occular myasthenia?
I have never had dry eyes before and it has developed since I had this sudden eye droopiness. I have only recently been diagnosed with Chrons.
I have been experiencing joint and bone pain which seems to come and go...and moves around my body from hip..shoulder..ankke ..knee and elbow..I understand this could be chrons..

Brief Answer:
Crohn's may cause joints pain and eye issues.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for being on follow-up.
Crohn's disease is an autoimmune disease, so, it is possible that this may cause both, your eye dryness and joints pain.
If myasthenia gravis then blood tests about antibodies should show result positive in both, ocular and more generalized form.
Hope I helped you.
Please let me know about blood tests results.
In good health.
