What Causes Dry Bleeding Nose After Having Fexofenadine For Cough?
Question: A few days ago I woke up and had a stuffy nose and hurt when I swallow ( only saliva) and coughing also, I took a medicine Fexofenadine on Thursday and it worked for a few hours then coughing resumed. Now my nose is bleeding, yesterday when I woke up my nose and throat felt very dry then when I blew it all I saw was blood. It bled 3 times yesterday and it was out of no where. Today when I woke up it started bleeding. What Is this?
Brief Answer:
Get an ENT examination done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. Antihistamines cause dryness of the nose, mouth and throat.
2. This dryness or increasing severity of the cold can cause bleeding.
3. Though pinching the nose and applying ice will stop the bleeding, get an ENT examination done as the medication needs to be reviewed.
4. Ideally, fexofenadine should work for 24 hours.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
