What Causes Dry White Hard Crusty Scabs On My Scalp?
Question: I am wondering what causes dry white hard crusty scabs on my scalp. It has been going on for over a year.
I know have a procedure scheduled where they did a. Bisopy and it came back pre cancer. The plan is is scrape the scalp with the use of numbing medicine and then using lazor to the area. Does that sound like good treatment to this problem?

Brief Answer:
actinic keratosis
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Probably you are suffering from actinic keratosis.
It is a precancerous condition and presents in the way mentioned by you.
Does your biopsy report mentions any disease?
If possible upload a photograph of the affected area. This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis and a better way of management. There is an option to upload photos on right side of query page.
Please utilize it.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you

I had the procedure done yesterday. I am doing okay. One big question is what is your felling on my hair growing back somewhat. How long does it usually take to heal as it sure looks raw today. Today it looked like it would take many months +.
It is about a 2x3 area on the top of my head.
It was good to hear that you thought the treatment was good to have done. This is a great service and I will use it again when I have questions. I will be anxious to hear what you think about the healing and hair growth.
I do want to thank you for your service as it was a big help me to get a second opinion. Thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
it will heal faster
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Healing is faster on scalp.
It will take around one week for healing to begin and by one month healing should be complete.
Regarding hair regrowth, it depends on the depth to which the procedure was done.
If it was deep enough to destroy hair follicles there might not be any regrowth.
Please meet your treating doctor and discuss regarding this.
thank you
