What Causes Dysphonia?
could be a cause
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
Post nasal drip due to allergies can cause dysphonia because of irritation to the vocal cords by the mucus at the back of the throat.
It can also occur in GERD so it is possible that the combination of these illnesses is causing your symptom.
Other causes are: (1)smoking
(2)thyroid mass compressing the vocal cords
(3)growths on the vocal cord. These can be benign or malignant
(4)trauma
If you have been evaluated by your ENT and lesions on the vocal cord have been ruled out and you do not smoke, then the likely causes are the combination of reflux and allergies.
The nasal spray should help with the drip but if this is insufficient then you may need an oral antihistamine or singulair.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
