What Causes Ear Pain After Taking N-Acetylcysteine?
Question: I am taking n-acetyl-cysteine and it gives me horrible ear aches why ?
Brief Answer:
Looks like unrelated symptom
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I being Cardiologist use this medicine regularly and not known to cause this symptom. May that you were prescribed this medicine for some respiratory illness which now would have spread to ear or eustachian tube and producing symptom rather than medicine.
Let me know if I can assist you further with any doubt.

no dr did the nac (not a prescription for me) for my homocysteine level, nothing else...the ear pain is unbearable..there has to be a better answer than this..what would be in the nac that could do this ??
I will look for follow up answer when I get home tonite..have to go to work...thank you....
I told you...no-my dr did not give NAC to me for anything but taking down my homocysteine level....when I started taking it, it gave me really bad ear aches but also took down my homocysteine level 5 points in 3 months..its the only thing that has worked in 3 yrs and we've tried everything else that all the drs and books say will take the level down and nothing does...I have the mthr factor and I take b6-b12 and folate for 3 yrs also ...all methyl forms.... no one can tell me why including that dr why my ears hurt......what is there in NAC that could possibly do this ..I need it desperately for the homocysteine level to go down farther but cant take it as my ears hurt so bad......there has to be a reason......surely someone else has had this problem is you've used NAC in yr practice as u state...plz send back an answer now since you've had 24 hrs to think about this....
why am I not getting any replies on this....I pd the fee and dr koregol said let him kno if he could help further and I sent 2nd reply/explanation......is all this a joke ?????
