What Causes Eczema Around The Nipples When Diagnosed With Raynaud's Disease?

Question: Hi Doctor,
I'm 31 year old female. I'm originally from XXXXXXX but living in uk for 20 years. I've been diagnosed with raynaulds conditions. My doctor said that this will cause problems in winter times as this is something to do with blood circulation issue. He also warned me that i should wear warm clothes and take care of myself otherwise it might develop into some serious illness such as arthritis or rheumatism etc. I try my level best to take care of my self but in recent times i'm feeling a but of pain in my joints ( mainly in my knees and ankles). I also noticed at times, eventhough not always, my ankles are swollen a bit. But then it'll go away. Sometimes I find it difficult to breath, but that also comes and goes, my mom is asthmatic but doctor said i'm not asthmatic but i can use inhalers when i feel like shortness of breath. I use symbricot once in a while or just go to the open space and get some fresh air. After that i would feel much better. Sometimes i get this when i'm going on an escalator or just having a shower behind the closed curtains. I checked my blood pressure and blood sugar level at home and the blood pressure is 110/83 and pulse rate is 89. My sugar level is 4.9. My weight 59kg and height 5'3".
I also have excema and it's worse around my nipple area bogh sides, so i've been using 1% hydrocortisone cream/ointment for the past 10 years for my nipple area. It gets better when i used it but then start again if i stopped. so i kind of continued using it. But i have now stopped that now and using teatree and witch XXXXXXX gel around that area. It seems to be getting better. I'm using it for the past 2 weeks morning and night.
I just wanted to know is there anything seriously wrong with my body that i should contact a specialist or go in to hospital or can i carry on with my normal routine as i explained above especially for excema. I tried to provide as much information as i can to give you my overall conditions. Hope this would help you to advise me properly.

Brief Answer:
raynaud's disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query on HCM

I do understand your concern

As per your history is concerned you have already diagnosed with Raynaud's disease and taken all preventives as advised by your doctor. But the problems which you have described is not due to your primary disease so a secondary disease can not be ruled out.so you need few test like nail fold capillaroscopy, anti-nuclear antibodies test, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and full blood count with differential, lipid profile etc.

Regarding your eczema I may say that do a physical examination or you can share image for an exact diagnosis because raunaud's disease most commonly affects your fingers, and toes and rarely nose, lips, ears, and nipples.so a proper evaluation is necessary.

Determinately, I will verbalize that nothing to be apprehensive at all and all the problems which you have described is 100% facilely curable.

Hope that helps

Thank you doctor,

I just have couple of follow up questions :-

1) Do I need to take these tests to determine the cause of my sudden shortness of breath or is it some kind of anxiety problem?

2) Will there be any side effects of using hydrocortisone cream /ointment (1%) in my nipple area for nearly 10 years?

3) Is it safe to use teatree and witch XXXXXXX gel in my nipple area because is was not mentioned by doctor. But I've used that for my acne in my face and seemed to worked. So I tried in nipple area and it's drying so feel like it's getting better. But just wanted to check that it's ok to use.

4) Is my sugar level, pressure level and pulse rate are looking normal for my age and weight or do I need any further tests on that too?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your follow up query

as per your question please follow point wise-:

1)You need to do these tests to confirm shortness of breathing and a physical examination.

2)As per other drugs' hydrocortisone cream /ointment (1%) for many years is not good at all and exact cause should be pointed out by physical examinations only. So in my opinion no need of it at all.
You can try few natural things at home like this-:

a)Gently apply some warm coconut oil on the affected area to soften the skin. For best results, use virgin coconut oil daily before going to bed or Apply fresh aloe vera gel several times a day for one month.

b)Apply vitamin E oil on your nipple skin, especially at night before going to bed. You can also try lotions and creams containing vitamin E which are OTC medications.

c)Mix equal parts of raw honey, beeswax and olive oil. Heat the mixture in a double-boiler to make an ointment. When it cools, apply it to your nipple skin and leave it on for several hours.

You can try one by one

3)You can also use [tea tree and witch XXXXXXX gel] without any problem and there is no side effects at all.

4)Regarding your [sugar level, pressure level and pulse rate] I may say that it is normal and nothing to be worried at all.

Hope you got my points

Thanks and wish you a good health
