Posted on Mon, 19 Jan 2015
Question: I have electric jolts through my body when I cough. And when my wife touches my skin she says it is warm but when I touch my skin it feels cold. I recently had shingles, could that have something to do with my symptoms?

Brief Answer:
No related to shingles....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This has nothing to do with shingles. Shingles affect dermatomes. Therefore with regards to shingles symptoms are spread over localised skin area supplied by the particular (affected) dermatome. Hence your symptoms are truly not related to shingles.

That being said, I am unable to name a cause / condition as they seem non specific. But since you are talking about changing temperature and electric jolts, I would consider evaluating peripheral nerves and autonomic nervous system first. So if the symptoms persist for more than couple of days, I will suggest you consulting a physician nearby who can check blood pressure, blood sugar, vitamin b12 and other minerals related to peripheral nerve functions. He/she will know about the tests.

Lastly, I don't see any serious concern from this set of symptoms. If there is any other problems associated, please let me know.

Hope this helped. If you feel I have answered your question satisfactorily, please close the discussion and review.

Best Regards
