What Causes Elevated GGT Level?

Question: I have fatty liver for the last 8-10 years,am 10-12 Kgs above ideal weight now. Having LIV 52 DS 2 tablets daily for last 7-8 years,with normal SGPT SGOT and GGT. A year back my SGPT SGOT and GGT became 90/86/172 respectively and I disregarded it as general hike in liver engymes. In April this year the liver engymes remained same so I stopped achohol completely for 2 month and did a LFT and found that GGT has gone up to 312 instead of coming down due to abstinence from alchohol. I am a controlled diabetic with HB1AC score ranging between 6 and 6.5
Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C results are negative.
Please let me know why is my GGT so high. I have continued to take Liv 52 DS all this while.

The treatment for your altered enzymes accompanied by fatty liver is as follows.
1. Weight reduction.
2. Meticulous control of blood sugars.
3. High protein low fat diet.
4. Regular exercise.
5. Medications
a. Vitamin A supplements
b. ornithine compounds. I tab three times a day after meals.x 6 weeks.
c. sorbitol+ tricholine citrate combinations. 2 tablespoons with aglass of warm water in the morning.x 6 months.
Repeat liver function tests after 6 weeks of treatment and USG abdomen after 6 months of treatment.

Please let me know how much of Vitamin A supplement do I take daily and how long?
Also the trade names of Orthithine Compounds and Sorbitol+tricholine citrate combinations, so that its easier for me to buy them from the pharmacy.
Also is it OK to have Liv-52 DS contineously long term?

You can stop liv 52 now.
The trade name of the ornithine compound is tab Hepa merz.
Vitamin A ( I tablet to be chewed daily for 10 days)
