Question: i am 73 yo, male general health is good.. went primary doctor for annual check, PSa high 25. he recommended to have biopsy. is that right step? i also may have prostitis symptoms

Thanks for your query.

PSA is quite high and with this PSA biopsy is recommended. However, infection of prostate, or prostatitis can also caused raised PSA. So if that is suspected, then a course of antibiotics followed by repeat PSA is warranted. If that is high, then biopsy definitely required.

If urine examination clear then directly biopsy can be done
