What Causes Elevated SGOT And SGPT Levels In Blood?
tab.Udilive 300 mg and Syrup LIV-52 DS
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
I have read your query and understand the concern.
Your wife's SGPT-130 and SGOT-94 levels are slightly elevated but they are not too high and do not have any clinical significance especially when your wife has no clinical symptoms.
For the sake of your knowledge, I would like to tell you that all these LFTs (SGPT,SGOT) are highly sensitive liver function tests,so they might get easily raised even with oily or fatty meal.
But they are NOT dangerous and probably they will come down to normal by themselves within few days.
However, she may take tab.Udilive 300 mg twice daily which is a bile acid, a substance naturally produced by the body and does not have any side effects.
Syrup LIV-52 DS 2TSF daily will also be helpful to reduce SGPT and SGOT levels. It is a herbal preparation having hepato-protective property and may be beneficial for her.
She can repeat the test for SGPT and SGOT after 3 or 4 weeks on fasting blood sample and most probably they will come within normal limits.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have more questions.

fatty liver is not an alarming finding
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
welcome again,
I have read your query,
Here, I would like to say that fatty liver is not an alarming finding. It indicates fatty tissue deposition on the liver. Therefore I wouldn't be personally worried about this finding.
Morever, fatty liver condition is a kind of obesity. And grade-ii fatty liver is completely reversible in the initial stages specially, by following below mentioned corrective measures.
1) do regular exercise or brisk walk at least 30 minutes per day
2) Avoid junk foods and fast foods,
3) low fat and high protein diet (Veg- Pulses, soyabean and cheese)
4) should take more fresh fruits and vegetables.
It is also not worrisome to have slightly elevated SGPT,SGOT when you have fatty liver since these liver enzymes elevation has NO clinical sgnificance as I told earlier.
For altered lipid profile, I would suggest her to continue with Atorlip 10mg with below mentioed diet and physical exercises.
Initial 20 minutes of walk goes in burning your sugar and then the fat start burning which should happen for another 20 to 25 minutes through a stable, moderate speed of 5 to 6 km/hour and then she will certainly see improvement in the blood cholesterol in addition to fatty liver reduction.
Also, follow these dietary guidelines:
- Avoid direct sugars,
- Avoid fried snacks, bakery items,
- Have ample of vegetable salads,
- Snacks should contain healthy nuts like almonds or walnuts and a few dry fruits but no fruit juices
- Simple Chapati and steamed rice or rotis made up of different whole grains should be your staple diet.
-vitamin B3 (niacin) increases HDL cholesterol
when fatty liver will start reducing, we may expect to see improvment in SGPT and SGOT levels.
Hope this information will help you.
