What Causes Elevated WBC Count In A Diabetic Patient?
Question: Hi , my mum has really bad pain , and lumps in her upper arm and her armpit,she has had an X-ray and it has shownup black shadows ,she has had a blood test and it showed out higher white blood cells .shes 82 diebectic and on walferin ,and has had poly mialger rematicar (apologies for bad spelling )

I read your question and i understand your concern. History of diabetes, lumps, raised Total leukocyte count etc all point towards an infection. My guess is some boils or abscess needing drainage.
Black shadows are likely acanthosis nigricans and are common in diabetics. Get assessed for the lump and rule out any draingeable pus in it which will need incision and drainage.
Talk to a general surgeon and let them have a look.
