Brief Answer:
elevated bilirubin

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Bilirubin can be elevated due to either a stasis in the liver from infection or inflamation or due to a blockage in the ducts that let it flow out of the liver normally.
If you have recently stopped alcohol it may be from some liver irritation due to that and may clear up on its own.
Your doctor will need to recheck it to see if it is going up or down.
You may also need an ultrasound or CT of the liver to see what is going on.
Talk to your doctor that ordered the test soon and see when they want to repeat it. A single mild elevation is not a cause for alarm but it does need follow up

Dr Robinson
