What Causes Elevated Blood Sugar Levels Despite Taking Medication?
Needs more information
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXX.
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I can help.
First , please don't be disheartened.
Sugar medicines have no standard formula by which one can fix a dose.
The medicines need to be titrated to each patient separately.
So please don't worry.
I have seen your prior reports. The sugar levels are definitely better. So the medicines have effect. As for HbA1c, it improves over 3 months. So I would suggest that you test that at the end of the period. Still, even this has shown improvement.
So overall , your medicines are working.
As I said, only the dose has to be adjusted and individualized.
I would need more information before I can help you further.
1. are you taking medicines regularly.
2. what is the exact dose and frequency of the medicines.
3. what is the diet regime.
4. what is the exercise regime.
please do let me know the information so that I can help you further.
Best of luck.
Dr Mittal

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
First, apologies for the delay.
I have gone through the information you have provided.
I have following suggestion.
1. the weight should be strictly under control. Any gain in weight is going to make the ongoing medicines inadequate. A milf weight gain is expected, because she was loosing sugars in urine, which probably has now stopped after medicines. You may confirm this by testing a urine test again.
2. you will need to control the diet. That is already done- but be sure you do cover more food groups. Restricting the diet to few groups is going to fail the diet eventually. Make sure she gets some foods of her choice.
3. You will need to increase the insulin. However, the medicine has its major side effects of hypoglycemia, specially in view of ongoing tablets as well. So I would suggest caution. One set of readings is usually not indicative of the change of medicine. So better to repeat sugars in a 15 - 20 days and then decide.
Those are my suggestions. Feel free to contact me again for a doubt on the subject. Apologies again for the delay. Dr Mittal
