What Causes Elevated Liver Enzyme Levels With Abdominal Pain, Nausea And Back Pain?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Mar 2017
Question: I am 65 yr old female experiencing ruq and back pain, nausea off/on for about 4 months. My LFT's were 3 times normal, CT revealed fatty liver and pancreas. I am overweight and diabetic but do not take insulin. My endocsopy and colonoscopy were normal. Does this suggest anything to you? I am particularly worried about pancreatic cancer even though CT showed nothing like that.

Brief Answer:
does not look like pancreatic cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query. I understand your concerns.

However, these reports do not suggest pancreatic cancer. The elevated LFTs can be explained by fatty liver and fatty pancreas on CT does not suggest cancer. Endoscopy and colonoscopy have ruled out gastric or colonic malignancy also.

So we are left with the abdominal/back pain and nausea. These can be because of fatty hepatitis and/or spinal problems due to being overweight. As the CT is normal, I won't worry too much.

Hope this helps.
