What Causes Elevated Triglyceride Level While On Lipofen And Fenofibrate?

Question : Triglyceride level has gone from 260 to 490 . Have been taking Lipofen for some time and recently the cardiologist added Fenofibrate. Could taking both of these medications cause it to go up. Also take two fish oil capsules daily (1400) and 10 mg of Crestor.

I read your query and understood your concerns.

Based on the data you provided the raise in trygliceride levels is to be blamed to diabetes (you are taking metformin) and dyslipidemia.

The use of fenofibrate is recommended for the treatment of high trygliceride levels.

If you were my patient I would recommend also:
- eat healthy foods reach in fresh fruits and vegetables, poor in animal fats and diary.
- quit drinking alcohol
- quit smoking
- increase physical activity
- avoid unnecessary stress
