What Causes Enlarged Inguinal Lymph Nodes, Fever And Fatigue?

Question: My 20 year old granddaughter returned from Japan 10 days ago. About a week ago she developed enlarged inguinal lymph nodes, fatigue and has been running a temp of 101.5-102.9 since. Family is treating temp with Tylenol and the ER md has placed her on Augmenton but is not sure what is causing these symptoms. Can you help?

I went through your post about your granddaughter.

Lymph nodes are part of immune system. Localized lymph node enlargement of recent onset indicates infection. Fever further confirms infection.

Inguinal lymph nodes drain the lower limbs, external genitals, gluteal region, anus and lower part of the abdominal wall.
So if inguinal lymph nodes are enlarged, it indicates, there is infection in one of the above mentioned areas.
You can examine these areas to look for infection.
Let her continue taking antibiotic and tylenol.
