What Causes Enlargement Of Prostate?

Question: I have an enlarged prostate, which may be cancerous. I urinate several times a day. today when I tried to urinate first some blood came out and then urine. I'm a XXXXXXX and have no pain
Brief Answer:
need to get investigated
Detailed Answer:
Difficulty in urination is not due to cancer alone. Prostrate enlargement due to Benign prostrate hypertrophy ( BPH) is common cause of urine disturbance.
Since you are elderly it is better you get investigated further. You need to get serum PSA and CECT abdomen. If abnormal, biopsy required with the help of trans rectal ultrasound. And treatment would then depend on biopsy, stage

do you rhink that the occassional blood from my urine comes
from the cancerous enlarged prostate.
I will see a urologist and since I am 96 years old and wondering how long
I can wait before I see him since it is occassionally and then I urinate
normallly.
Brief Answer:
need not be cancer
Detailed Answer:
Blood in urine need not be due to cancer and rare due to prostrate cancer. It is more common due to infection and since your prostrate is enlarged it leaves residual urine in bladder which is a nidus for infection.
If you are asymptomatic there is no urgency.you can take appointment and consult your doctor
