What Causes Excessive Diarrhea?

viral gastroenteritis, maybe lactose intolerant
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
From your description , two possibilities arise
1. Viral gastroenteritis which is verycommon in this age group. If there is no blood no need to worry, there is no need for antibiotics too.
I usually recommend Oral rehydration solution like rebalanz in sips every 10 minutes.
This will prevent dehydration. Zinc at 10mg daily for 10 days is usually given to help in faster recovery.
You can continue arrowroot kanji, but avoid juices and aavin milk
2. Lactose intolerance . This can be confirmed by stool test for reducing substances. If positive you may need to stop all lactose including dexolac and switch to lactse free formula like isomil.
Ensure your child passes urine atleast 6 times daily.
So to answer your query, try ors and zinc for a day or two .
If no improvement, get stool test and treat lactose intolerance if identified.
Wishing your child speedy recovery
Regards
