Question: My baby who is 3 months old has red rashes on face. Baby emits lot of saliva and spread herself in face and that seems to be the cause of the rashes. We tried applying olive oil and lacto calamine on the rash area, but did not help much. The baby is wearing gloves but not stopping on licking her hands and emitting saliva. Could you suggest any cream or lotion which does not affect baby (especially since she is trying to lick the saliva which she emits)
Brief Answer:
Relax
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Relax,there is nothing to worry.
Drooling is commonly seen in infants.and usually started at 3 months of age.
At this age babies also develop ability to chew and muscle control to take their hand to mouth which further increases saliva production but they do not having proper swallowing reflex leading to drooling.
This continous salive leads to drilling rash.
I suggest you to
-carefully wash the inflamed are.
-pat it dry.
-apply lanolin ointment 3 to 4 time which will heal his skin and prevents further irritation
In case symptoms aggravate get him evaluated by pediatrician as physical examination will be needed.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist further.
Wishing your baby good health.
God bless...
