What Causes Excessive Saliva, Gas And Belching?
Dyspepsia !
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I read carefully your query and understand your concerns about your mother.
The symptoms you described of excessive secretions in her mouth ,gas and belching are symptoms of dyspepsia indicative for acid reflux disease.
This is a condition when the stomach acid moves up into esophagus causing inflammation explaining the above symptoms.
These symptoms can improve with some diet modifications including:
-She should eat small frequent meals instead or 3 major meals
-Avoid foods that trigger her symptoms :avoid fatty, processed foods, spicy foods, coffee ,alcohol ,chocolate ,juices etc
-Drink plenty of water
-Raise the head of her bed at least 6-8 inches (use extra pillows).
She can use PPI drugs (Prilosec )20 mg once daily before a meal for 2 weeks.
If the symptoms improve ,it serves also to confirm the diagnosis of acid reflux.
Hope it was of help.
Let me know if you have other questions or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.
Kind Regards!
