Brief Answer:
A consultation with a sleep specialist

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for your question. I ready your query. Welcome to Health Care Magic.

Warfarin (Coumadin) is taken for the mechanical valve that was implanted. Since the mechanical valve is a metal, it makes you prone to thrombi (little blod clots) formation in the valve. That is why is warfarin taken, to prevent formation of these thrombi. Congratulations on your successful surgical procedure.

As regarding your sleep problem, this is certainly not normal, to sleep for 18-19 hours in 24 hours. I would recommend you to include some activities in your everyday life, such as various activities which involve physical activity, engaging in jobs which do not require a lot of stress or physical tiredness. Also, I would recommend you to consult a neurologist and, if possible, more specific, a sleep specialist (if available in the are) about this problem, to address it specifically and in more details.

I hope I was helpful with my answer. Feel free to ask follow-up questions, I would be happy to help.

Best regards,
Dr. Meriton
