What Causes Excessive Sweating When Diagnosed With IBS, Fibromyalgia And DDD?

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Jul 2015
Question: I'm having problems with sweating at different times throughout the day, not so much at night and I don't wake up soaked. I had a total hysterectomy about 6 years ago but I did just find out 2 months ago I have Type 2 Diabetes. I also have IBS, Fibromyalgia, Hypothyroid, Degenerative Disk Disease, also have bulging disks at T9-10, L5-1. Is this related to Diabetes, Hormones, or some other infection, ( I might not realize because of the pain meds.

Brief Answer:
could be hormonal, infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question,
The two most common causes for new onset of sweating would be infection or thyroid disorder. It is possible that for some reason your medication dose for the hypothyroidism has gotten too high and needs to be lowered. A high level of thyroid hormone would explain the sweating, elevated blood pressure and elevated pulse.
It is also important to make sure that you are not on too much medication for your diabetes. Make sure to check your sugar when you have the next sweating spell and make sure it is not too low (like below 80).
If you are having the sweating due to infection you might be having other symptoms like cough or pain in a new place (like pain with urination).
In any case it is important to make sure that you see a doctor as soon as possible to try and sort this out.
I hope you are feeling better soon,
Dr. Robinson
