What Causes Excessive Sweating?
Venlafaxine, Anxiety, Hyperthyroidism, Humidity
Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
Good day.
From the list of medicines, I presume that you have High cholesterol, Hypertension, Acidity, Hyperthyroidism, Atrial fibrillation and depression.
Did you ever use Cordorone ( Amiodarone) in the past?
How is your thyroid status now ?
How frequent are the symptoms ? ( intermittent or continuous)
Sweating in the upper body can be due to number of reasons. Most common cause is post menopausal hot flushes which is unlikely in your case. However, among the listed medicines, Venlafaxine can cause sweating as a rare side effect.
Other common causes include thyroid dysfunction ( hyperthyroidism) and hypoglycemia. Humidity is a common cause of sweating. Anxiety is another important cause.
During the sweating episodes it may be worth while to check your blood glucose levels as well.
I tried to open your medical record which was attached. But there is just one page which says Atrial fibrillation.

Thank you

Hi,
Good day,
Yes, I got all the medical records now. As I can see, you received Hormone replacement therapy until 2002. Can you remember what dose was it and what was the name of it ? ( if you cant remember, please don't bother). I can also see in the report that you have paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation and you are on Warfarin and Digoxin for same. Do you still get a run of AF occasionally ?? ( some times people develop sweating when they have AF).
I have also noted that you had a run of Supraventricular Tachycardia ( SVT) back in 2002. ( I don't know if the doctors ever gave you an injection of Cordorone at that time in the hospital, which has precipitated the hyperthyroidism)

Hi,
Thank you . DO you get any feverish feeling towards evenings or night?
Does the sweating get any worse during evenings or nights? Do you have any weight loss?
It may be worthwhile checking your CBC and ESR. You should also get yourself checked by your GP for lymphnode enlargement in neck, axilla etc as well as an abdominal examination looking for enlarged spleen or liver. Nothing to worry. At your age, we need to think of all possible causes for your symptoms including a very rare disorder like Lymphoma too.

lymph node examination...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Good day.
I gave gone through all the attachment and your case summary done by Dr XXXXXXX XXXXXXX As per that, there are no contributing factors which can be blamed as a cause of sweating episodes. However, as I mentioned earlier, it may be worthwhile hinting Dr XXXXXXX about lymphnode examination. It is rare, but occasionally lymphoma can cause sweating. We should leave no stone unturned.
Wish you all the very best
