What Causes Excessive Sweating?

Thyroid
Detailed Answer:
Sorry to hear about your sweating problem.
I understand you saw your doctor and the tests were ok. May I know if the thyroid was checked too? The test for it is called TSH.
An over active thyroid can typically result in the type of symptoms you are experiencing.
If you have diabetes and your blood glucose levels drop below normal, you could sweat. But yours a is a more sustained continuous type sweating so low blood glucose does not seem likely.
There are 2 other conditions that cause sweating.
One is called Acromegaly. It is a rare condition characterized by increase in the size of body parts such as the head and hands. A simple screening test for it is a blood test for IGF1.
The other rare condition associated with episodes of sweating is called Pheochromocytoma. A simple screening test for this is called plasma free metanephrines.
It is important to remember that screening tests are not 100% accurate. Confirmation tests are performed if the screening test results are positive for the condition. Conversely, if they are negative they may on occasion still miss the diagnosis. That is why when a doctor gets the opportunity to examine the patient in person, (s)he interprets the lab results in light of findings on physical examination.
Furthermore, these are just a few endocrine ('hormonal') causes of sweating. There can be many other reasons for which seeing a neurologist in person may be necessary especially if hormonal tests come back normal
