What Causes Extreme Depression Along With Suicidal Thoughts And Anti-social Behavior?

Question: Hi sir I m getting depressed frequently for the past 10 yrs subjects and situations may vary but results left same. Surprisingly all misfortune was coming to me. I'm getting suicidal feelings many hundred times. But I hav grown up as Hindu and bekivef that god don't accept suicide and wil get more pain after death. I'm getting severe feelings evn for small issues. I'm naturally very sensitive cant able to accept world behaviour like cunning mischievemnt etc. My mother find faults with in me alwys that makes me weak. I'm feeling like there's no one for me and cant understand my pain.feelin like this world won't suit for people like me there's no true love. But I want be strong first. I dnt want to depend metally on others it waste depanding and realising they wont worth it. Can u help me.

I have read your query and understood your concerns. Life is full of difficulty and stress, everyone has to survive through that. Depression is a psychiatrist illness in which person's thinking is compromised and it is coloured with cognitive errors. S/he can only see the negative aspects of life. Person may have negative feeling regarding everything that is surrounding him like s/he may have negative feelings regarding himself, about future, about psychiatric illness, about world and it's people. S/he may have feeling of helplessness which leads to hopelessness and finally s/he feels that there is no meaning of life, nothing is going to change. Eventually s/he develops death wishes and suicidal thoughts. Same is happening to you.

I feel that your depression is at severe level and you should consult a psychiatrist in person and get treatment in form of antidepressant drugs with psychotherapy and counselling. When your depression starts improving you shall have positivity in you and you shall have courage to fight all the misfortune and problems you are talking about. Treatment usually takes longer time for showing maximum benefit, so you have to be patient. After some improvement in your depression, you can go for cognitive behavior therapy which will help you in identifying your cognitive errors and how to correct it.

You can talk regarding your family issues with your doctor and take your family members to the doctor for the resolution of the conflicts. Nobody is perfect, we have to make some adjustment.

Generally such feelings last for XXXXXXX 3 days. Mostly one day. But its really tough to go through that. Its like a cyclone.i m so good hearted that ill always make adjustments and always try to forgiv but I wont forget pain and reason for its cause. Feeling that I should nt get deceived again. But when I got hurt for some reason all things that hurted me in the past will line up. If I cry I ill loose most of the pain evn though the reason doesn't change. Some times even my will power tries so much hard to become normal some thing in my brain won't let me it ill take time. Untill that I remain so dul evry body asks me why .for them the reason wil be so silly. in college everybody says I'm moodist.but my pain is true why eveybody bothers abt reason. I dnt want to be sensitive. Do I really have depression problem? I always thought that I'm weak hearted. Be coz when I first joined in the hostel when I'm 18 I use feel so bad even when two people who are not my friends got quarelled. I use to feel like why people are like that. Why cant be they good to each other. Ok now do I seriously consult a psychiatrist directly. I'm little bit scared. I cant tell all this to my family. I surely know they cant understand. Instead they ill increse my pain.

You have not given the detailed history previously, so I felt that your problems must be because of the stress and anxiety resulting in depression.

According to your emotions and feeling, inflexibility regarding rules and regulations with overconscientious behavior towards morality, ethics and values, I feel that you might be having obsessive compulsive personality traits or disorder. In this type of personality, person is preoccupied with rules, regulations, orderliness, neatness, details and the achievement of perfection. They insist that rues to be followed strictly and can not tolerate what they consider infractions. They are rigid and inflexible.

Depression is very common in this type of personality because they easily get stressed when something goes wrong or does not meet the expectations as per rules and regulation or their morality. So, you may not have clear cut depression but because of the personality factors you got easily stressed and it last for few days. So, it comes in episodes and correlates with stress.

You can also discuss regarding your personality problem that is your emotions and feeling with a psychiatrist. Group therapy and behavior therapy also work well with stress management and learning coping strategies.

Try to adjust your moral ethics according to circumstances, which may be good or bad. Lower your expectation towards anyone or anything in your life. Consider everyone as a selfish person. This kind of modification of thinking will help.

Thnk u Dr. I think obssesive compulsoin disorder is right. Becoz I m strict to some values like nt telling lies. Evry time I prefer telling truth and do extra work to telling lies and skip. And I expect others to Tel truth only. I hate even to look at people telling lies and irresponsible.i remember my mother mentioning that one day even before joining to school I was dull( generaly i use to be so active) she took me to the children specialist he said im totaly fine. Can u believe this i remember some things in my life in the age when i cant be able to talk. But i wont tel this to any one that thy wnt believe me. So do i have depression or personality disorder. Do i surely consult a dr? Or should i have to adjust my attitude. But doc i have tried a lot and got adjusted a lot over the yrs. But as life goes on when i got succeded in one issue im getting another big issue a head. Some times i feel very tired fighting.

OCD is different from a obsessive compulsive personality disorder [OCPD]. Do not confuse between the two. I have suggested a [OCPD] because your rigidness and inflexibility in thinking with expectations from others. For making a diagnosis of personality disorder, the symptoms must have started before the age of 18 years otherwise it is not a personality disorder.

Diagnosis of personality disorder requires detailed interview with the patient as well as from the family members. Psychiatrists make diagnosis on the basis of history and mental status examination. There are no tests to detect psychiatric illness.

Whatever it is? whether it is a depression or a personality problem? you need to consult a psychiatrist and ask for help. Adaptive adjustment will help you correct your life but maladaptive adjustment and thinking will cause you more emotional trauma.

Confirm diagnosis can only be made by in person interview. I can not suggest confirm diagnosis on the basis of this conversation. I have suggested the possibilities.
