
What Causes Extreme Pain In Elbows After Removal Of Cast Put For Torn Tendon?

Question: My question is I have a torn tendon in my left elbow caused from an extream hyperextention of the elbow. The doctor put a cast on me for 9 days and I had the cast removed today however when he was examining my elbow he pushed where the origional pain was and it caused me extream pain to the point I was balling and begging him to stop...he did no further x-rays or ultrasounds and suggested I just go to physical therapy 3 times a week for 4 weeks......I do not feel my arm was casted long enough to heal anything expect XXXXXXX considering the pain I'm in and cannot straighten my arm.

1. Yes, I am feeding extreme pain when I try to straighten my arm.
2. There appears to be little swelling how ever my middle finger to my pinky finger goes numb.
3. Yes there is redness especially around the inside of the elbow and small red spots that itch that were under the cast.
4. I would not say there is any feeling of instability however my elbow feels best when it is folded up with my hand on my shoulder.

Hello madam,
I do not think keeping cast for long time is a option. As you are saying that skin condition is not good, so it can damage further if you keep cast.
I would suggest you to apply compression bandage like crape bandage. Avoid physiotherapy for 2 weeks as it will increase pain. I would also suggest you to apply ice.
If pain is very severe, then take tablet like Brufen. You can also apply Voletran ointment.
