What Causes False Positive UPT Results?

Question: Hi Doctor, I got my pregnancy test before three days it was showing very light oink color line on "T" indicator of Pregnancy device and used Ican Pregnancy device to test.Later on same day I tested it was negitive but used different test device. And my last period was on October 10th.Please tell me is that test fails even after am pregnant?

Thanks for writing to us about it.

I can understand your concern, though.

I have worked through your history and there is my opinion about it.

-May be you are not pregnant and your first test result is a false positive.
Causes of false positive result are-
1) You read the test after 5-10 min. (Evaporation line)
2) Test affected by hormonal injections and tablets
3) Your pregnancy kit is expired

Your test result indicates a negative result on the same day, but with different kit, so in my opinion to confirm whether you are pregnant or not you should go to Blood serial HCG testing because sometimes urine test shows false negative results also.

Thanks for answer Doctor. I will do with Blood serial HCG testing.But doctor I am feel that my heart beat rate increased from past 4 to 5 days. Its not all the day but at some times suddenly.And tell me is that required to test with same type of device all the time or we can have same results even after different one.

Hi Doctor, Good Morning. I don't have fever and didn't check the heartbeat exactly. But suddenly I get cautious when my heart beat increases and I never had this kind of increase of rate before. But I feel very lazy to work in the evenings.

Hi,

It is nice to hear from you once again.

If you are feeling increased heart beat (palpitation) and feeling uneasy because of it, you can consult a physician and get yourself examined and ECG (electrocardiogram) test done to rule out the cause.

Palpitation can be due to anxiety, anemia and due to some heart disease etc.

I guess in your case it can be due to anxiety, but if it causes discomfort to you the other causes should also be ruled out.
