What Causes Fatigue And Dizziness While Nursing A Child?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Jul 2014
Question: I am a 37 year old female in generally good condition, slight asthma and skin and environmental allergies only. My blood has been tested a lot and has always been normal. My latest blood test showed urea/creative ratio 34, mcv 101, mchc 31.8. B12 and folate were normal. I have been more light headed and dizzy lately (low blood pressure so I tend to get light headed normally) more hand numbness and feeling of fullness in my arms (though seems to be better with less salt intake) and fatigue. I don't drink alcohol because I am still nursing my son at night. My doctor does not seem to be concerned and I know the values are close to normal but I feel different. Are there any other tests I should ask to have done?

Brief Answer:
All clear, no worries

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking!
Providing your history, i would say that would be it for the test for the time being. You are a healthy 37 year old mother and you current fatigue and out of energies and dizziness is just because of your excessive demands of a nursing son. That is a perfectly natural phenomenon. Just have some good vitamin supplements, proper sleep and routine, good dietary habits , seek a dietitian for a complete dietary plan.
DIzziness and vertigo just needs reassurance as they are mostly innocuous in such conditions.Just plenty of fluids and symptomatic management with betahistines and meclizine if need be would suffice.
manage your asthma, control the allergens, discuss newer options like bronchial thermoplasty allergen immunotherapy etc for the asthma if exacerbates recurrently.
In nutshell, avoidance of allergens and focus on a dietary plan devised by a dietitian is all you need for now. Nothing to worry and nothing to lose.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
May the odds be ever in your favour.
