default
Posted on Tue, 4 Aug 2015
Question: Hi I feel like something (Ex : hair) struck in throat from last 2 days,I had a treatment done for gingivitis (scaling) few weeks back and do regular flossing, brushing now.
used Peridex (suggested by Dentist) for 3 weeks and stopped and there is no such feeling then.
When the feeling started I tried to do a deep toungue cleaning to get that hair out but seen some blood coming out from sputum and I got panic.
There is no blood there after whenever I do a tongue clean
Im 33 no cough,no fever and had a chest x-ray done in feb -2015 and found clean.
I used to smoke for 10 years and stopped 2 years back.
Please let me know the remedy to cure this.

Brief Answer:
COnservative care will resolve, Laryngoscopy if problem persists.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Feeling of foreign body sensation in throat is very common and mostly benign condition secondary to mostly inflammation of tonsillar pillars ( most likely in your case) as dental procedure recently and follow up deep tongue manipulation with a brush might have contributed altogether.

If the use of peridex has helped the feeling of foreign body then you may continue with it and do mouth rinses for a while.

Do some aspirin gargles and garlic water mouth rinses and see if it helps.

If you have acid reflux problem in the past then that is the commonest cause of such foreign body sensation in the throat . That would need some antacids for the relief.

If the problem persists get to an otorhinolaryngologist and them doing laryngoscopy will take any foreign body if there which is unlikely. I am sure it wont come to that and symptomatic remedies will help.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
