What Causes Feeling Of Movements In The Intestine?

Question: I have been feeling movement in my intestines, near my belly button. I recently took a round of slippery elm, as well as probiotics for IBS. I now wonder if maybe I might have worms and what to do about it. I saw my digestive disease doctor recently and told him about it. He seemed to feel it was muscle spasms, but it does not feel like a spasm. It is more like fluttering. Could it be worms? I didn't ask the doctor, because I am in my 70's, and frankly felt foolish to ask.

Yes, parasitic infestation (worms) is a definite possibility based on the description of your symptoms. It is not at all foolish to as this question, in fact its a relevant and pertinent question. The best initial test now would be a stool routine exam plus ova and parasite examination. If there is evidence of parasitic infestation then deworming with the appropriate anti parasitic agent e.g albendazole or mebendazole or secnidazole can be done accordingly
