Brief Answer:
Not necessarily.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.
I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.
Assuming you are asking your symptom to be suggestive of "Multiple Sclerosis" - I would say that though this sensation is likely to be listed as one of the symptoms of this condition, but this will not mean the diagnosis.
For diagnosing MS (Multiple Sclerosis) tests like blood, spinal puncture, nerve conduction studies and others are mandated after clinical suspicion.
If you are experiencing this only symptom of late and are very concerned - then other possibilities exist before you plan to meet your doctor. Deficiencies of Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Calcium add to the most common list and needs to be eliminated first before thinking of MS.
Let me know if I have missed out any other concern in your question.
Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that you have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.
Sincerely,
Dr Sujeet N Charugulla,

Blood work negative have some l have had 4 brain Mir 2008 2011 2012 2013 negative and a yr ago cervical also and thoracic mri negative had a positive lumbar Mri with disc bulge also a disc protrusion can this be a cause also Dr says I most likely have fibromyalgia who ms shown up already after having symptoms for 6 yrs. What do u mean about overlapping symptoms of ms is there a chance I could have it
Brief Answer:
Disc prolapse reason likely.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the additional points.
Yes, I can see that your MRI history with the lumbar region will have a bearing on the sensations in the lower limbs for obvious reasons of nerves supplying the lower limbs does arise from the lumbar vertebrae. And this will be the likely cause, if the disc prolapse is still on. This condition is a challenge, and the treatment depends on the extent of prolapse and is mostly conservative.
Fibromyalgia is another diagnosis though overlapping symptoms exist with MS, which needs extensive evaluation from your doctor. I hope you are on medications then, for any pain therein.
Let me know of additional concerns.
Brief Answer:
Details below.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the further questions.
MRI findings are not conclusive of MS alone. Diabetes also presents a similar picture on scans.
Fatigue, pain, weakness are a few common symptoms of both MS and Fibromyalgia to begin with.
I cannot be sure of your MS as the diagnosis in this context. Would need a thorough neurological examination for that apart from tests.
Thanks,
Brief Answer:
Mostly done, few left.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up.
Assuming your evoked potential tests (EMG - Electro Myo Gram) have been negative, along with the blood tests earlier the chances of MS are remote to be detected in spinal lumbar puncture test that is also part of the investigative regimen.
Hence, theoretically though this spinal tap test is in the list - practically it may have very lesser chances of showing up - and more importantly - your lumbar region disc prolapse condition will contraindicate such a test.
Hope your doubts are sufficiently clarified.
