What Causes Feeling Of Vibrations In Left Leg And Muscle Twitches?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
These symptoms are not due to any neurological problem.
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries. I have read your clinical history you have mentioned in detail and can understand your concern.
First of all a summary of your history-
A month age you had problems of vibrations in left leg and muscle twitches and you started having fear of MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS or something like that. At that time doctor advised you to take plenty of water and later MAGNESIUM and ATIVAN (Lorazepam) on SOS basis. You consumed 60 tabs on Ativan in 3 weeks and then supply of medicines finished and you visited a doctor for these symptoms who advised you to take TRAZODONE. Trazodone was not tolerable and then during appointment with Neurologist tests results came normal. All symptoms like twitches were gone. But still you have symptoms of Sore muscles, tremors in legs, anxiety without any reason etc.
Coming to discussion-
- From the history it is clearly evident that the symptoms you developed were due to anxiety only. All tests came normal and still you have anxiety which also strengthens anxiety as diagnosis. In severe anxiety individuals may start showing such symptoms like twitching of muscles, tremors but associated deficiencies should be ruled out.
- Low vitamin B12 levels can present with such symptoms of muscle soreness and tremors. I want to know if your levels came normal for Vitamin B12 also? If you have not underwent the test then I would advise you to go for B12 Levels test to rule out this possibility.
- The reason of increased soreness and tremors after stopping Trazodon is possibly withdrawal from Trazodon. Trazodon is a anti depressant drug and abrupt stoppage of its use after taking regularly may result in withdrawal syndrome. Increased anxiety, insomnia, restlessness, tremors, fatigue in muscles etc are common symptoms.
- I would advise you to wait for some more days may be a week to see improvement from withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms coupled with anxiety are responsible for your symptoms aggravation. As per my opinion you should consider consulting a neuropsychiatrist for such symptoms. Medicines like low dose benzodiazepines (Clonazepam, Lorazapam) can help to reduce these symptoms, but use these drugs on SOS basis and in less doses only. For proper treatment of anxiety SNRIs drugs can help you. Drugs like Venlafaxine, Duloxetine etc are used in anxiety associated with somatic symptoms. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription of drugs.
- Try relaxation exercises, yoga, breathing exercises to keep yourself healthy. This would reduce the symptoms of your anxiety.
Thanks, hope this helps you. Please provide the details about B12 levels in follow up question. Be assured these symptoms are not due to any neurological reason.

Reduce the doses gradually and it would reduce the symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello again
Yes tapering the doses gradually would reduce the symptoms to some extent. If you were on 50 mg doses then taking half to 3/4th tablet for about a week and then taking it alternate days for one more week followed by stopping completely will prevent any withdrawal symptoms.
Get the B12 levels checked and see if you have deficient levels. Start taking B12 supplements if levels come in lower range.
Thanks
