Just like you mentioned, it is weird you have thyroglobulin abs of which you are theoretically considered not to have any thyroid gland left. Maybe the remnants in your system before the surgery?But has been a long time and probably something isn't going on right. Synthroid is thyroxine and is T4. There is really no point in measuring these t3/t4 as they are totally regulated by us. The main indicator of how well the drugs are working is the TSH which seems to be normal though on the very low side of normal. T3 would of course turn out low because there are no supplements of t3 being administered! 150mcg seems a lot to me. If I were your doctor, I will not mind to drop this dosage and see whether there would be any change in your symptoms. There is really no point in getting these numbers controlled now as they are very recent. I will rather recommend that your doctor reduces the dose of synthroid and see what happens to your symptoms. Thyroid cancer all by itself would keep the TSH very low because an active cancer would produce high levels of hormones(T3/T4) that suppress any significant secretion of TSH. TSH levels are normally used to monitor patients post thyroidectomy for cancers because very low levels may signal some active cells actively producing hormones that may explain this. For real with an ultrasound that showed some thyroid tissue, this means it is actively secreting hormones. Added to the 150mcg that you take daily, I am some what not surprised that you have presented with symptoms of excess thyroid hormones. If all the cancer cells were taken out, there would be no need on stressing to have very low TSH because there would be no reason to be afraid of. Also, cancer cells often do not depend on TSH to secrete high amounts but they are rather autonomous and that is the reason why cancers would result in very low TSH. Low TSH preventing cancer cells from multiplying and producing active hormones is not typical. The mere fact that you do not take parathyroid hormone/calcium supplements means all the thyroid tissue was not taken out because the gland that produces this hormone is embedded in the thyroid gland and the thyroid gland cannot be fully excised if these remain in place.
