Brief Answer:
some more information please.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mrs XXXX,
hope you are in good health.
Have you undergone thyroid function tests and serum cortisol levels? I believe, these are not covered under routine blood work.
Please post what other symptoms do you have like any loss of appetite, weight gain or weight loss, pains, depression etc.
We will be waiting to help.

No other symtoms. I broke my leg 2 months ago, and have just started getting around. Sometimes I have a burst of energy at night. I have not had the 2 tests that you mentioned. Could it be just trying to get back into the swing of things. Is Liver Function test being off by 1 point a concern? My Doctor did not seem to be concerned.

Brief Answer:
Not abnormal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Not at all. There is wide variability among LFT reports and one point deviation is not at all a concern and is not the cause of your weakness.

It might just be due to sedentary lag that would probably abate over time when you fully move about.

With every other test being normal, you should be fine soon. Next time you visit your doc, make sure you ask for thyroid test, to ensure it is normal too.

All the best.

I am taking Lipitor. Could that be the reason for the LFT to be off by one point, and is it safe to continue to take it? My Doctor didn't tell me to discontinue it. He just wants me to repeat the test in one month.

Brief Answer:
yes, lipitor could be the cause. .but don't stop n

Detailed Answer:
Yes, it could be the reason for mild abnormality in lft. You need not stop it immediately as it can return to baseline over time. If it persists high or is increasing, then it is the best time to stop lipitor.
So your doctor is correct. You need serial follow up of lft.
Another problem with stopping lipitor is there are limited alternatives which are safer from liver view point and keeping cholesterol levels in check is more important than anything else.
So stop worrying and hope for a normal test next time.
All the best.
