What Causes Fever After Measles Vaccination?
Question: Hello
my 11 month son had a measles vaccine on 18th march. He started having fever from 20th march from 100 to 102 degree. We have started giving him crocin syrup due to which his fever has reduced. But his urine output has reduced(maybe due to heat and less water intake). His appetite has reduced. We tested his blood, urine and stool reports and everything seems to be ok except that he has 2-4 pus cells. His fever has reduced since morning today and he ate little khichdi. However there are tiny dots on his face but urine is very less. He is playing normally but is weak. Pls help me as my doctor is unavailable. What might be th reason
Brief Answer:
relax.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Relax,there is nothing to worry.
Sometimes after measles vaccination such symptoms appear.
But they are selflimiting and need symptomatic management only.
Record temperature and in case it is above 100F give acetaminophen.
Apply calamine lotion over rashes 2 to 3 times a day.
Give plenty of fluids, fruit juices, vegetable soup and simple bland diet.
Your baby should be fine in couple of days.
In case symptoms persist get him evaluated by another doctor.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can help further.
Wishing your baby good health
God bless...

Thank you maam for your answer. I am concerned with low urine output. We are feeding him small amounts 9f water and he is being constantly breast fes. But he is passing urine in a gap of 4 to 5 hours which is not usual. Even though his urine reports are near to normal. I am worried about any infection.
maam what should be the remedy to improve his flow. Also his fever is fluctuating between 99 to 101.
Brief Answer:
hi
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up.
Since tests are done and they are normal so nothing to worry.
But as I mentioned increase fluid intake and then see urine output.
In case it continued to be less and fever persist then re evaluation will be needed to see for any focus of infection.
Hope this helps.
Take care....
